We’re looking for the perfect Scone recipe to honor the late owner of Rare Opportunity Bakeshop, Ruth Thompson. Ruth, who had been with us for about 17 years, died a few weeks ago. Drop off your homemade scones at the Chef’s tent at 10:45. Prizes will be awarded for top community scone and top Vendor scone. Our own James Ricciuti will emcee. Judges include WUSA-TV certified meteorologist Chris Laudicina and Nancy Cumberbatch, from DJ the Baker. SEPTEMBER 29: COOKING WITH MUSHROOMS Renowned chef and cookbook author Susan Belsinger teams up with Davis Highlands for a special presentation. Join them for a demo and sampling at the Chef’s tent at 11am. OCTOBER 6: KIDS IN BIZ DAY This is the day children can become vendors for a day.
