FRESHLY CUT, SPRINGTIME FLOWERS AND PLANTS, HOMEMADE CHINESE DUMPLINGS, AND A SPECIAL APPEARANCE BY A POPULAR CHILDREN’S AUTHOR… THOSE ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS FOR THIS SUNDAY. NOW HERE ARE DETAILS….

WHAT ELSE IS AT THE MARKET?   Vietnamese, Indonesian, Romanian, and Jamaican specialties, fresh fish, Greek pastries, Greek olive oil, homemade sourdough bread, olives,  balsamic vinegar, local mushrooms, eggs, ground beef, butter, sausage, poultry, apples, local honey, BBQ, pita and hummus, empanadas, crepes, Danish, croissants, homemade tuna salad, sweet potatoes, red and white potatoes, local honey, cookies, microgreens, gluten-free baked goods, vegan baked goods, baked beans, croissant sandwiches, croque monsieurs, bread pudding, houseplants and flowers, and more…

KNIFE SHARPENING:  Look for Gary (SHARPER THAN EVER) on site just about every Sunday, including this Sunday. 

FARMERS EXPECTED:  Manchester Mushrooms, Leedstown Farm, Living Lettuce, M & M Plants, Dimitri Olive Oil, Apple Valley and Fairy Greens.

SPRING SCHEDULE

  •  APRIL 26TH:  POTATO DAY. It’ll be all things POTATO on the 26th. For children, we’ll have potato sack races, potato bowling, hot potato games and Mr. Potato head. For adults, we’ll have a food vendor potato competition (participants are listed on our website).  We’re also inviting the community to join the competition.  Bring your own potato dishes to the Chef’s tent at 10:30am on April 26th.  JEFF BURNETT, a longtime Market favorite,  will be our Potato Day musician.
  • And last but not least, join Chef Joe Baldini for a Pasta class, featuring what else, but potato gnocchi!  The first class is free! Potato Day is part of Olney Days for the first time.
  •  APRIL 26TH:  ​Green Olney will also be at the Market on April 26th.
  • MAY 10TH:  MOTHER’S DAY AND GRAND REOPENING OF OUR SPRING MARKET. This is the day our live music starts.  It’ll be a special day for Moms.  Snap up a Red Envelope at the Info booth or on our website (olneyfarmersmarket.com)  before Mother’s Day.  The cost is just $20, a donation to our non-profit.  Don’t open the envelope until you return to the Market on Mother’s Day.  Then, look for a manager to unlock your special surprise gift.  Gifts range from fabulous handmade jewelry and pottery to gift cards, all worth more than $20.  Special thanks to Nancy Wert for organizing the event.  Thanks to our vendors for the gifts.
  • MAY 10TH: The return of our Master Gardeners.
  • SUNDAY MAY  30th: STRAWBERRY TASTING - Judges include Allison Weiss, executive director of the Sandy Spring Museum and our own Katherine Farquhar.  And this just in, a well known, surprise contestant will be entering the competition.  Join us at the Chef’s tent for a sneak preview of the giant Strawberry Festival at the Museum.
  • JUNE 7TH: PICKLE FESTIVAL:  A first for our Market!  From pickle-flavored popcorn to pickle dip and a pickling class, we’re celebrating the Pickle! Details coming soon.
  • JUNE 14TH: SPRING KIDS IN BIZ DAY - This is the day children can become vendors for a day.  All items must be handmade or homemade.  A Market lunch will be provided.  Details on how to sign up coming next month.
  • JUNE 26TH: SPRING MOVIE NIGHT - Details coming soon.
  
Late August:  First time ever Olney Farmers Market High School OPEN MIC DAY
Students from area high schools will perform 2 songs at the Market.  Music teachers from area high schools will be asked to choose 3 students to perform - individually. Students must provide their own instruments.  A PA system and mics will be set up.  Details coming soon.
 

VENDOR ALERT!   A reminder that all vendors are required to have weights of at least 25 lbs per leg, no exceptions!  In the event of strong winds, you will be asked to take down your tent.  This is for everyone’s safety.  Anyone who refuses to comply will be subject to termination.  We just can’t take any chances.  Thank you.

 SNAP:  Yes, we take SNAP!  Come to the Info booth for information.

ADVERTISING:  Advertising in our newsletter and/or our website could be a great way to get the word out about your business.  Vendors get special discounted rates.  Contact [email protected] for details.
 
FOOD SCRAPS:  As part of a Montgomery County-sponsored pilot, Compost Cab will accept food scraps 
from our customers. 
Look for their tent in the rear of the Market. You may drop off:
  • Fruit and Vegetable scraps
  • Cooked Food
  • Meat, fish bones
  • Dairy (cheese and yogurt)
  • Eggshells
  • Bread & Grains
  • Coffee Grounds & Tea Leaves (remove all filters)                                  

PARKING IS ALWAYS FREE! (For Winter, vendors may leave at 1 instead of 1:10) There are 2 main lots, one outside the professional buildings on 108; the other opposite the Thrift Shop on Prince Philip.
NO PETS PLEASE!

DONATIONS WELCOME!   Please consider a donation to our 501-C-3, Friends of the Olney Farmers Market.  The Market provides vouchers for fresh produce to those in need.  This season, we’ve given out more vouchers than ever before. It would be great to replenish our fund.  We also need funds to support our music program and our children's tent.

 ***Customers:  Please do NOT remove barricades at our entrances and exits.  These are meant to keep all of us safe.  

 In the event of dangerous weather conditions, we'll post our decision on whether to close on our website, olneyfarmersmarket.com and on Facebook.
NO PETS!  We ask that you leave your pets at home.  We allow service animals only.
