DY, SET, START BAKING!  HOW YOU CAN ENTER THIS SUNDAY’S APPLE PIE COMPETITION…  A SNEAK PREVIEW OF MOVIE NIGHT AND OUR FIRST EVER NIGHT MARKET; AND THE FIRST TEEN TO SOLVE THE ‘IT’S OLNEY MATH’  PUZZLE WINS $35!  THOSE ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS FOR THIS SUNDAY. NOW HERE ARE DETAILS…

SPECIAL EVENTS THIS SUNDAY
"The Stress Doc" ™ is back! Mark Gorkin is the author of the multi-award-winning and multicultural illustrated children's book, Where Is Charlotte?  The Doc will lead a magical family singalong of the Hide-and-Seek adventures of our fun and feisty little hero.

Also: it’s in the cards! Daryl Witt, owner of the Sports Cards Exchange, has cards to trade, sell or buy.

APPLE PIE COMPETITION THIS SUNDAY!   Which apples are best?  And what’s the secret to the perfect crust?  Drop off your homemade apple pie at our Chef’s tent by 10:30a this Sunday, and let the competition begin!  Councilwoman Dawn Luedtke will be a guest judge.  Our own James Ricciuti will emcee.  Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.  Go to olneyfarmersmarket.com for a complete list of the rules.

The Olney Fun Run and Walk! Meet at the Market at 11am, and get ready for some morning exercise.  For more info, go to goca.org    The Market will provide a reception tent on the grassy middle.

IT'S OLNEY MATH!
Check out the math puzzle and visit with math professor Greg Coxson at the Olney Math booth.  The first teen to solve the puzzle wins $35!


HOLD THE DATES!

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 3:  Our First Ever NIGHT MARKET AND MOVIE NIGHT:  FREE ADMISSION. DONATIONS ARE WELCOME!   The Market opens at 6PM. Movie ('The Princess Bride') starts at 7:30pm.   Look for a variety of food vendors, crafters, artists and farmers, including Too Sweet (Kettle Corn), Pacha Mama, The Crepe Shoppe, The Stuffed Potato, DMV Empanadas, Louie’s Sweets, Tucker’s Pond, Thomas Evans Plants and Produce, and San Valentino Pizza. SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12TH: Note that the date for IT’S OLNEY TIME!  has been moved to October 12th.  This is the day area non-profits will gather on the Market grass. They’ll be sharing the good work they do for our community and explaining how you can get involved.  Each non-profit will give you a raffle ticket for some great prizes.  Plus, there will be food samples.

AT THE INFO BOOTH: This is where to get info about SNAP benefits.  This Sunday, ask for Charles for help. We also have a Manna donations jar to help feed the hungry.  And our new Olney Farmers and Artists Market tote bags are just $10.  The funds support our 501-C-3, Friends of the Olney Farmers Market.

A REMINDER TO VENDORS AND CUSTOMERS:  OUR SMALL DUMPSTER IN THE REAR IS FOR MARKET TRASH ONLY.  SORRY, BUT WE DON’T HAVE THE CAPACITY TO HANDLE ANYTHING MORE.     
                                                          
FOOD SCRAPS: As part of a Montgomery County-sponsored pilot, Compost Cab will accept food scraps 
from our customers. Look for their tent in the rear of the Market. 
You may drop off:
  • Fruit and Vegetable scraps
  • Cooked Food
  • Meat, fish bones
  • Dairy (cheese and yogurt)
  • Eggshells
  • Bread & Grains
  • Coffee Grounds & Tea Leaves (remove all filters)

PARKING IS ALWAYS FREE! There are 2 main lots, one outside the professional buildings on 108; the other opposite the Thrift Shop on Prince Philip.

DONATIONS WELCOME!   Please consider a donation to our 501-C-3, Friends of the Olney Farmers Market.  The Market provides vouchers for fresh produce to those in need.  This season, we’ve given out more vouchers than ever before. It would be great to replenish our fund.  We also need funds to support our music program and our children's tent.
Checks can be mailed to PO Box 1787, Olney, MD 20830. We also accept donations at our Info tent.

Note to Vendors:  Remember that every tent must have at least 25 pounds of weight per tent leg.  Thank you for your cooperation.
