WE’RE OFF TO A ROARING START OF THE SPRING SEASON, THANKS TO OUR VENDORS, VOLUNTEERS, AND THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY! THANK YOU!  AND ARE YOU READY TO TAKE THE STRAWBERRY CHALLENGE?  DETAILS ON OUR MAY 25TH EVENT ARE COMING UP!

WHAT’S AT THE MARKET?  Fresh strawberries,  eggs, butter, local mushrooms, ground beef, sausage, chicken pot pie, sweet and savory pies, crepes, breakfast burritos, coffee, Romanian cuisine, Vietnamese dumplings, pizza, Bolivian empanadas, freshly baked bread, cupcakes, Danish, churros, croissants, croque monsieurs, tuna salad, chicken salad, fresh lemonade, Greek olive oil, Greek baked goods, olives, kale, certified organic greens, onions, garlic, broccoli, microgreens, hydroponic lettuce, banana bread for a cause, vegan gelato, gluten-free baked goods, kettle corn, plants and freshly cut flowers,  and lots more…

MUSIC AT THE MARKET - Michelle Swan

Michelle Swan is an award winning singer and songwriter.  She has released 3 records on her own label and has won Mid-Atlantic Songwriting contest’s gold award and best song overall in 2023 & 2024 for her songs “Enemy in My Scope” & “It All Came to Pass”. Michelle weaves lyrics and notes together to create intensely personal songs that tell of sentiments and circumstances nonetheless familiar to everyone.  Music starts at 10am.

FREE YOGA: from 10-11A on the Thrift Shop Grass. Thanks to Uplift Yoga and Medstar Montgomery for their sponsorship.  Don’t forget to bring your yoga mat! Classes will be held every Sunday, now through October.  While there is no charge to attend, pre-registration is required.

STRAWBERRY CHALLENGE MAY 25TH: Drop off your favorite, homemade strawberry dessert to our chef's tent by 10:30am.  Special thanks to James Ricciuti.

The Market meadow could be the perfect setting to meet someone new. Sip on a little wine (or non-alcoholic beverage); and munch on Market strawberries.  All proceeds benefit the Sandy Spring fire department, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary.

KIDS IN BIZ DAY: JUNE 29TH - To sign up, email [email protected].  Also, we’re offering children the chance to be an apprentice to a vendor the Sunday before, June 22nd.  Among the participating vendors:  The Italian Pasta Shop.

FIRST FRIDAY IN OCTOBER: (Our first ever) NIGHT MARKET AND FAMILY MOVIE                                                                                                                   
NO UNAPPROVED SOLICITATIONS PLEASE, either on the Market site or in our parking lots. 

Our banana bread baker, Ryan, was able to sell enough banana bread to donate $323.00 to No Kid Hungry. It's enough to provide up to 3,230 meals to kids and families in need.
 
FOOD SCRAPS: As part of a Montgomery County-sponsored pilot, Compost Cab will accept food scraps from our customers Look for their tent in the rear of the Market. You may drop off:
  • Fruit and Vegetable scraps
  • Cooked Food
  • Meat, fish bones
  • Dairy (cheese and yogurt)
  • Eggshells
  • Bread & Grains
  • Coffee Grounds & Tea Leaves (remove all filters)

PARKING IS ALWAYS FREE! There are 2 main lots, one outside the professional buildings on 108; the other opposite the Thrift Shop on Prince Philip.

DONATIONS WELCOME! 
  Please consider a donation to our 501-C-3, Friends of the Olney Farmers Market.  The Market provides vouchers for fresh produce to those in need.  This season, we’ve given out more vouchers than ever before. It would be great to replenish our fund.  We also need funds to support our music program and our children's tent. Checks can be mailed to PO Box 1787, Olney, MD 20830. We also accept donations at our Info tent.  You may also use the Donate button at the top of this newsletter. THANK YOU!

  •  Customers:  Please do NOT remove barricades at our entrances and exits.  These are meant to keep all of us safe.   
  • In the event of dangerous weather conditions, we'll post our decision on whether to close on our website, olneyfarmersmarket.com and on Facebook.
  •    NO PETS!  We ask that you leave your pets at home.  We allow service animals only.
