WILL IT BE PICKLES ON A STICK, PICKLE SANDWICHES OR PICKLE PIZZA?  AND CAN YOU REALLY MAKE PICKLES AT HOME WITHOUT THE FUSS?  WE’LL HAVE ANSWERS AND FREE SAMPLES AT OUR FIRST EVER PICKLE FESTIVAL THIS SUNDAY.   NOW HERE ARE DETAILS….

WHAT ELSE IS AT THE MARKET?  Tomatoes, pickle popcorn, pickle crepes, pickle smoothies, pickle moonshine,  pickle empanadas, pickle crafts, onions, kale, stuffed potatoes, churros, certified organic greens, broccoli, hydroponic lettuce, local mushrooms,  Maryland crabcakes, Maryland wine, homemade bread, freshly cut flowers and plants, coffee,  Danish, croissants, croques monsieur, lasagna, Greek pastries, Greek olive oil, balsamic vinegar, ground beef, butter, sausage, poultry, local honey, BBQ, hummus and pita, homemade tuna salad, cookies, gluten-free baked goods, vegan baked goods and much more…

Yoga! Join us at The Olney Farmers Market each Sunday at 10am for community yoga! This is an all levels class adaptable for every body and all levels.  We will be in front of the Thrift Shop in the wide open field.  All are welcome and class is free as sponsored by Medstar Health!  Come get your veggies, do your yoga, & see your community!
 
Please bring your own mat or beach towel.  Please be courteous and only sign up to hold the spot if you know you can be there.  Class is free but pre-registration is required.

PICKLE FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS:
  • 9AM 'TIL WE RUN OUT:  Enjoy delicious pickle samples at the Info tent.
  • 9:45AM Meet our pickle festival judges at the band tent:  Dr. Alex Naini, Mike Skehan and Mindy. 
  • 9AM to 1PM Wander around the Market; munch on all kinds of pickle inspired dishes prepared by about 13 vendors, including the Crepe Shoppe, La Table du Chateau, Personal Chef Nick, Pacha Mama, Be Still Bakery, and San Valentino Pizza.  The full list, including pickle-inspired crafters, will be on our website, olneyfarmersmarket.com.
  • 11AM Meet on the Market Green near Info for a free pickle-making demonstration!

JUNE 26TH: NIGHT MARKET AND MOVIE NIGHT
Pack your picnic blanket or a chair, and join us on the Market Green for a special evening under the stars. The movie is Finding Nemo. It is FREE!  (But yes, we do accept DONATIONS!) The Night Market starts at 6:30pm; Movie starts at 8.  Enjoy a delicious dinner or dessert from our Market vendors; shop at our one-of-a-kind crafts tents; enjoy the movie!  Anyone in need should stop by our Info Tent for a discount card.


VENDOR ALERT!   A reminder that all vendors are required to have weights of at least 25 lbs per leg, no exceptions!  In the event of strong winds, you will be asked to take down your tent.  This is for everyone’s safety.  Anyone who refuses to comply will be subject to termination.  We just can’t take any chances.  Thank you.


FOOD SCRAPS:

As part of a Montgomery County-sponsored pilot, 
Compost Cab will accept food scraps 
from our customers. 
Look for their tent in the rear of the Market. You may drop off: 
  • Fruit and Vegetable scraps
  • Cooked Food
  • Meat, fish bones
  • Dairy (cheese and yogurt)
  • Eggshells
  • Bread & Grains
  • Coffee Grounds & Tea Leaves (remove all filters)                                  
                    
STAY SAFE! PARKING IS ALWAYS FREE!   Vendors are asked to stay until 1:10pm.  There are 2 main lots, one outside the professional buildings on 108; the other opposite the Thrift Shop on Prince Philip.
NO PETS PLEASE!

DONATIONS WELCOME!   Please consider a donation to our 501-C-3, Friends of the Olney Farmers Market.  The Market provides vouchers for fresh produce to those in need.  This season, we’ve given out more vouchers than ever before. It would be great to replenish our fund.  We also need funds to support our music program and our children's tent.
Checks can be mailed to PO Box 1787, Olney, MD 20830. We also accept donations at our Info tent.  You may also use the Donate button at the top of this newsletter.
