A TRIBUTE TO KAREN:  Our wonderful friend, Market advisor and former State Senator, Karen Montgomery, died Sunday.  She was 90.  Karen and her late husband Harry Montgomery were fixtures at our Market for years.  They couldn’t wait to bite into the Egg Stop’s Breakfast burritos on Sunday mornings and shop for our wonderful local produce.  It was Karen who found our original Market site outside the old Pumpernickel’s Deli in October of 2007.  When a county official insisted we would not be able to find a site or enough farmers,
Karen proved they were wrong.

Karen was a fighter; she was passionate about gardening, art, and French fries.  She also loved swimming in her backyard pool in Brookeville.  We will miss her dearly.

This is an all levels class adaptable for every body and all levels.  We will be in front of the Thrift Shop in the wide open field.  All are welcome and class is free as sponsored by Medstar Health!  Come get your veggies, do your yoga, & see your community!

Please bring your own mat or beach towel.  Please be courteous and only sign up to hold the spot if you know you can be there.  Class is free but pre-registration is required.

VENDOR ALERT!   A reminder that all vendors are required to have weights of at least 25 pounds per leg, no exceptions!  In the event of strong winds, you will be asked to take down your tent.  This is for everyone’s safety.  Anyone who refuses to comply will be subject to termination.  We just can’t take any chances.  Thank you.

SNAP:  Yes, we take SNAP!  Stop by the Info tent and ask for Charles for details.

OVERFLOW PARKING:  Please respect our neighbors in the Tall Timbers community, just across the street from our Market site.  We ask that you not park there, since it can be difficult for them to get out.  Instead, please use our overflow parking, just past our large parking lot, across from the hospital.

FOOD SCRAPS: As part of a Montgomery County-sponsored pilot, Compost Cab will accept food scraps
from our customers.
Look for their tent in the rear of the Market. You may drop off:

DONATIONS WELCOME!   Please consider a donation to our 501-C-3, Friends of the Olney Farmers Market.  The Market provides vouchers for fresh produce to those in need.  This season, we’ve given out more vouchers than ever before. It would be great to replenish our fund.  We also need funds to support our music program and our children's tent.
Checks can be mailed to PO Box 1787, Olney, MD 20830. We also accept donations at our Info tent.  You may also use the Donate button at the top of this newsletter.

THANK YOU!!
