SPECIAL UKRAINE TENT THIS SUNDAY: Find out how you can help the Ukrainian people. Stop by and ask for Mariia near the Info booth. She and her colleagues from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on New Hampshire Avenue will be manning a tent featuring all things Ukrainian. Your donations are appreciated!
Blankets for Babies, Comfort for Families continues to gather blankets, afghans, swaddles for shipment to Ukraine. Our next shipment will be in April. We have shipped over 200 blankets so far. Sadly, the need is no less than when we started this project.
Please bring your contributions to the OFAM information booth any Sunday. If you need a pickup, contact Katherine Farquhar: 240 753 2121.
Any size pattern and yarn/fabric is welcome. Acrylics are favored over wool (to avoid allergies). We ask that every blanket be washed and blocked before donation.
If possible, please attach a tag to each blanket that: gives measurements in cm, names the fiber/fabric, and includes your name and email so we can thank you. You are welcome to attach a note or card to the blanket that will be seen by the recipient family!
We also continue to gather unopened packages (for customs approval) of Elaine Karen receiving blankets for Kiev Maternity Hospital, These come in packages of 3, 6 and 12. Please leave on the original packaging so that customs inspectors don't get riled up. Once we have several hundred, we will ship these as well.
Thanks to the OFAM crew and to our needleworkers for your lovely work. Can you help us to send 100+ blankets / afghans in the mid-Spring?
P.S. Here's an easy pattern for knitters: Dreambaby Baby Afghan
